Fall 2025

August 26: First Rehearsal/Music Distribution

Nov. 15: Morning Dress Rehearsal/Evening Concert

“Stretch-Marked Hearts” at Catalina United Methodist Church

$12 Admission

Inspired by the life and legacy of poet Andrea Gibson, who wrote, “In the end, I want my heart to be covered in stretch marks,”—this concert is a meditation on how love shapes us. Through music that is tender, fierce, and deeply human, the University Community Chorus reflects on the ways love grows beyond its borders: how it expands us, unsettles us, leaves its mark, and calls us into courage. Featuring Considering Matthew Shepard: A Choral Suite, this program offers space for grief, hope, transformation, and the enduring beauty of a heart stretched wide.

Presented by the University Community Chorus under the direction of Dr. M. Nicole Davis, with assistant conductor Abe Gibson.

In dedication to Andrea Gibson (8/13/75 – 7/14/25)

Spring 2026

Jan. 20: First rehearsal/Music Distribution

April 21: Dress Rehearsal in Crowder Hall

April 23: “The Places We Carry” at UA School of Music – Crowder Hall
Presented by University Community Chorus and The Reid Park Zoo

$12 Admission

Under the direction of M. Nicole Davis and assistant conductor Abe Gibson, University Community chorus presents the third installment of The Connection Series: A Collaborative Concert Experience. This concert series is an interdisciplinary project that brings choral music into conversation with other fields of study. This concert honors the quiet weight of memory, resettlement, and becoming. Through music that reflects themes of journey, identity, and compassion, The Places We Carry gives voice to the unseen—what we hold onto, what shapes us, and how we move forward. Premiering a specially created work by Patrick Chiu of Lycoming College in celebration of Reid Park Zoo’s Pathway to Asia expansion, this performance invites us to consider the stories that live within us and the places we carry wherever we go.

Preceded by the “Meet the Composer” event in Slonaker Living Room at 5 pm
